The Ballet Zaida: Artemidora series has many themes. In an age of social media when people are used to seeing a quick blip of entertainment, these videos are almost the opposite. They poses many themes including time, memory, moving forward, titles, judgement, love, forgiveness, & letting go.

Ballet Zaida Artemidora: “Progress” / Featuring @shea_dancer / The Ballet Zaida: Artemidora series has many themes. In an age of social media when people are used to seeing a quick blip of entertainment, these videos are almost the opposite. They poses many themes including time, memory, moving forward, titles, judgement, love, forgiveness, & letting go.
The movement, words, & visual imagery all blend together to compose a narrative for that particular video. Within the series, some of these narratives are reoccurring.
In this video in particular, without giving away every theme, Shea restarts the same piece of choreography 3 Times. Each time the series of movement restarts, Shea gets a little bit further through the movement, trying to reach the end. A reminder that in trying to achieve our goals, we will always face set backs, however setbacks aren’t inherently bad, because we can learn from them.
Each time she restarts, the word “Progress”’ is said with a reoccurring but slightly different message. This is to show that sometimes in the process of achieving our goals, we have to let go of our old ideals.
